zyb.com - SyncML Service

Thursday, August 17th, 2006

Today I stumbled upon zyb.com, a SyncML service that is available for free with most of its features. Since I got my new Nokia E61, I signed up immediately to test its capacities. It works good, but not perfect. It seems to be able to handle many phone numbers per contact, but only if you chose one of the supported number types. It does for example not synchronise a number labeled Mobile, but it sychronizes Mobile (Home) and Mobile (Work). What is important to me that it can synchronise many entries of the same type - so e. g. two numbers labeled Mobile (Work)were correctly copied to zyb.com.

Just try it - it is free and seems to be an acceptable solution to backup your mobile contacts.

Camera tossing!

Friday, June 16th, 2006

I read about camera tossing just recently. Camera tossing - this means throwing your camera up into the air with a longer exposure (and self-timer on). The results might range from totally over- or underexposed shots to quite fascinating psychedelic shots with lights describing circles and curves.

There is a camera tossing blog and also a flickr group dedicated to this. I saw some pics from people throwing up their valuable Nikon D200s…. they have my respect for that. Guess I will try toying/tossing around with my more affordable point and shoot…
And here we go…. my first tossing photo! And I did not even need to risk my point and shoot! My (company) hand phone was good enough for this shot. ;-)

This one was taken indoors. I will give it a try during the next days outside in Hongkong.
